For a limited time only, we’re enabling the WNDR Alpine community to participate in intimate backcountry safety clinics in our local terrain of the Wasatch!

The WNDR Rendezvous comes in two unique flavors:

The Avy Awareness Rendezvous - openings on 12/11 and 12/14

A one day intro to managing backcountry hazards for those with minimal or no backcountry experience or training. This course is designed to give you a foundational knowledge of navigating avalanche terrain from which you can build upon.

The Risk Management Rendezvous - openings on 12/18

A refresher course on backcountry safety, route selection, and avalanche hazard assessment for those who have at least a season of backcountry experience, and/or AIARE 1 or 2 certification. This is a course for those that want to brush up on their skills going into the season.

Friends of WNDR Sean Zimmerman-Wall and Harrison Brickman are teaming up to lead these one-day backcountry safety and avalanche awareness events.  Sean's background as a professional avalanche educator and Professional Programs Director at AIARE and Harrison's experience as a CSGA II Certified Ski Guide and avalanche professional represent an ideal combo to provide unique perspectives to set you up for success this winter. Each session will focus on providing useful risk management strategies, travel techniques, and avalanche rescue insights from practitioners with thousands of hours spent operating in backcountry terrain. Additional leadership will be provided by Friends of WNDR Pep FujasJack StaussMatt Sterbenz, and Xan Marshland.

Participants will be invited to a short webinar in the days leading up to the main event, which will cover necessary gear, a brief terrain overview and anticipated routes, as well as additional info to ensure everyone shows up to the trailhead ready to go.

Note that this program is not intended to replace or replicate a multi-day avalanche course. Rather, this program is intended to offer an intro to snow safety concepts for newcomers to backcountry skiing, or to serve as a refresher course for those who already have some experience under their belts.

We will be adhering to COVID guidelines to minimize risk. Expect to wear a cloth face covering when relevant!

If you've already purchased 2021 skis, we welcome you to attend. Please shoot an email to hello@wndr-alpine.com and we'll put you on the list.
