PRODUCT & DESIGN DEVELOPER

POSITION OVERVIEW

The role of Product and Design Developer at WNDR Alpine will support development of all apparel and pack items and bring a product to life from concept stage through to prep-production readiness completion. In addition, the role will work closely with Checkerspot and the WNDR Alpine commercial team in a highly dynamic environment to achieve aggressive development and go-to market milestones.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product design development through patterning and concept prototyping
  • Produce production standard level garments and draft supporting documentation for scalable reproduction in bulk production
  • Develop tech packs ready for sampling, revising, and finalizing them for production
  • Compile all product materials/construction, and information; create a database to store those details, BOM creation, and technical specifications
  • Build prototype samples in house
  • Proactively identify and resolve inefficient processes
  • Create tracking system for design process, materials, and trims
  • Assist in building an internal library of materials, test data, and construction references
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all tier levels of manufacturing
  • Analyze and test raw materials and construction samples
  • Support fit sessions and ensure the modifications are reflected in the final specification sheets and patterns
  • Ensure accurate cost estimates and price targets are achievable to meet target FOB
  • Create systems and solutions to QA/QC situations and issues
  • Accountable for building a strong safety culture and actively pursue it daily; identify unsafe behaviors and conditions and intervene to mitigate incidents

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelors’ degree in Design or equivalent certification, related business experience or industry training
  • 4+ years of experience in the outdoor apparel industry

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong sewing, building, and pattern making skills required
  • Previous pattern making experience, CAD & Gerber knowledge required
  • Proficient in G-Suite, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Illustrator; able to pick up new computer applications quickly
  • Organized and methodical; able to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to take initiative and to prioritize work tasks, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a busy, deadline-driven, entrepreneurial, and creative environment
  • Ability to balance autonomy and collaboration
  • Interest in future trends, technology, product concepts, and environmental advocacy
