The MTN Pure binding from Salomon brings lightness and convenience together like peanut butter and jelly. The patented step-in aid makes clicking in to the toe piece easy as pie. It also retracts once you've stepped in, so there is no hindrance to your range of motion. There's also no need to turn the heel to enter ski mode, so removal of skins doesn't require clicking out of your binding. But you can rotate it 90 degrees for those longer flat approaches where a flat heel is ideal. The wider screw pattern allows for stronger binding retention and better power transfer as well. Risers can easily be lifted or dropped with your pole and the long sturdy toe lock lever is a cinch to use with frozen and/or bulky gloves. The MTN also comes stock with 3 U-bow options; toted as women's, men's & expert, that are easily interchangeable and stiffen up both the lateral and vertical release of the binding depending on how hard you want to send it.
